Shaykh Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz (1330–1420 AH / 1912–1999 CE) was a highly respected Saudi Islamic scholar, jurist, and theologian known for his deep knowledge of Fiqh, Hadith, Tafsir, Aqeedah, and Islamic jurisprudence. He memorized the Qur’an at a young age and pursued extensive religious studies under prominent scholars, despite losing his eyesight as a young man. He became one of the leading voices in contemporary Islamic scholarship, serving as Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, head of the Council of Senior Scholars, and president of the Permanent Committee for Islamic Research and Fatwa. ibn Baz authored many influential works and delivered lectures and fatwas that continue to be widely studied across the Muslim world. His teachings emphasize adherence to the Qur’an and Sunnah and have played a significant role in Islamic education, da‘wah, and fatwa issuance globally.
