Wealth: An Introduction
Allah created man for the sole purpose of worshipping Him. As He said,
وما خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ مَا أُرِيدُ مِنْهُم مِّن رِزْقٍ وَمَا أُرِيدُ أَن يُطْعِمُونِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الرَّزَّاقُ ذُوالْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِينُ
"And I have not created man and jinn (for any other purpose) except to worship Me. I do not need any rizq (sustenance) from them, nor do I want that they should feed Me! Verily, Allah is the only One who is al-Razzaq (the Giver and Provider of all Wealth and Sustenance), the Owner of Power, the Most Strong!" [Surah al-Dhariyat, 56-58]
In another verse, the Prophet () was told,
فاصبر على
مَا يَقُولُونَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ غُرُوها وَمِن أَنَا بِي اللَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْ وَأَطْرَافَ النَّهَارِ لَعَلَّكَ تَرْضَى ال وَلَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَى مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِ أَزْوَاجًا مِنْهُمْ زَهْرَةَ الْحَيَوةِ الدُّنْيَا لِنَفْتِهُمْ فِيهِ وَرِزْقُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَى وَأَمْرَ أَهْلَكَ بِالصَّلَوَةِ وَأَصْطَيرُ عَلَيْهَا لا نَسْتَلْكَ رِزْقًا نَحْنُ نَرْزُقُكَ وَالْعَاقِبَةُ لِلتَّقْوَى کار:
"So bear patiently what they say, and glorify the praises of your Lord before the rising of the sun, and before its setting ... ...We do not ask you for provision (i.e., to give Us something); (rather) We provide it for you. And the good end (i.e., Paradise) is for those that are conscious (of Allah)." [Surah Ta Ha, 130-132]

One of the blessings that Allah has given His servants is that of a convenient means of financial exchange, i.e. money. Money has since grown to become one of the most prized possessions of mankind, and like so many elements of the dunya, serves to test the obedience of Allah's servants by challenging their system of priorities...
Therefore, due to the fact that the Muslims of today are preoccupied with the seeking of money to an extent almost unparalleled in Islamic history, I felt the need to compile a short treatise explaining the manner in which Allah and His Messenger described how Muslims could increase their money. The focus of this book is upon encouraging Muslims to procure money through halal means, and to abstain from harām gains.
About the Author
Abu Ammaar Yasir Qadhi was born in Houston, TX, but completed his primary and secondary education in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He graduated with a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston, after which he was accepted as a student at the Islamic University of Madinah. After completing a diploma in Arabic, he graduated with a B.A. from the College of Hadith and Islamic Sciences. He is presently doing an M.A. in Islamic Theology (Aqidah) from the College of Da'wah at the University. Of his published works are: Riyaa: Hidden Shirk; An Introduction to the Sciences of the Qur`an; An Explanation of the Four Principles of Shirk; Du'a: The Weapon of the Believer; and others.
