Born in Egypt in 1898, Muhammad Abu Zahra graduated from the judiciary institute and served at Al-Azhar and Cairo University.He wrote detailed biographies of major jurists and examined Islamic legal theory, hadith and fiqh.
In this work, he compiles and analyses four separate Arabic volumes on the founders of the major Sunni madhhabs, making that scholarship accessible in English for the first time.
