Description du livre

A Treasury of Iqbal presents a thoughtfully compiled selection of the most inspiring poems, essays, and reflections of Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Known as the “Poet of the East,” Iqbal’s work combines spiritual insight, moral guidance, and encouragement for personal and societal development.

The book explores Iqbal’s philosophy, his call for self-realization, and the empowerment of individuals and communities. It highlights his thoughts on faith, knowledge, leadership, and the responsibilities of Muslims in modern times. Through his poetry and prose, Iqbal encourages readers to seek self-improvement, pursue higher ideals, and remain steadfast in their spiritual and ethical values.

THE UNIVERSE
regularly. Thus the universe is forever evolving and continues its journey towards its completion. Iqbal alluded to this fact as:
The universe still looks incomplete.
A voice forever repeats Be and it becomes.15
Be and it becomes is the Qur'anic expression kun fayakun (36: 82). This refers to the act of creation when God says: "Kun-Be" and it instantly happens. His command is instantaneously obeyed and whatever He orders comes into being. For Iqbal this universe is still an unfinished entity constantly undergoing change and development. Thus, it provides a stimulus to humanity's creative activity to achieve perfection by the power of their khudi (self).
The Qur'an stresses that human beings should reflect on the signs which are scattered all around them and should subdue and control the forces of nature as he is the vicegerent of God on Earth and as such have a role to play in shaping the universe. In this way humanity is required to display its creative faculty and unless its takes this initiative he will not be fulfilling his role in this world. Iqbal alludes to this in his poem Insan (Man):
If he wills he can change the shape of the garden;
This creature is wise, full of insight
and strong.
