Seeking refuge from sorrow and distress
Asma bint Umays
reported that the Prophet asked her, "Shall I tell you words that you may say in times of sorrow () or distress (5)? These are:
الله اللَّهِ رَبِّي لَا أُشْرِكْ بِهِ شَيْئًا
Allahu Allahu rabbi, la ushriku bihi shayan
Allah, Allah is my Lord, I do not associate anything with Him." (Sunan Abu Dawud)
Spring of the heart
Abdullah ibn Mas'ud & reported that the Messenger of Allah said: "No person suffers any anxiety or grief, and then says this du'a except that Allah will remove his sorrow and replace it with happiness:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي عَبْدُكَ وَابْنُ عَبْدِكَ وَابْنُ أَمَتِكَ نَاصِيَتِي بِيَدِكَ مَاضٍ فِي حُكْمُكَ عَدْلُ فِي قَضَاءُكَ أَسْأَلُكَ بِكُلِ اسْمٍ هُوَلَكَ سَمَّيْتَ بِهِ نَفْسَكَ أَوْ أَنْزَلْتَهُ فِي كِتَابِكَ أَوْ عَلَّمْتَهُ اَحَدًا مَنْ خَلْقِكَ أَوِ اسْتَأْثَرْتَ بِهِ فِي عِلْمٍ الْغَيْبِ عِنْدَكَ أنْ تَجْعَلَ الْقُرْآنَ الْعَظِيمَ رَبِيعَ قَلْبِيْ وَ نُورَ صَدْرِي وَ جَلَاءَ حُزْنِي وَ ذَهَابَ هَمِّي وَ غَ
Page no:4وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُم بِشَيْءٍ مِّنَ الْخَوْفِ وَالْجُوعِ وَنَقْصٍ مِّنَ الْأَمْوَالِ وَالْأَنفُسِ وَالثَّمَرَاتِ وَبَشِّرِ الصَّبِرِينَ
We will test you with a certain amount of fear and hunger and loss of wealth and life and fruits. But give good news to the steadfast.
(Surah al-Baqarah 2:155)
