Ibn 'Abbas said: "Allah commands kindness and respect towards parents; one should not answer them rudely, nor stare sharply at them, nor raise one's voice at them; instead, one should be with them like the servant between the hands of his master, in a most humble way". Allah said: And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, do not say to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour. And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: "My Lord, bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was small">2. Al-Baghawi said, explaining the verse Do not say to them a word of disrespect): "Allah has commanded not to say to 1 Surat An-Nisa': 36. 2 Surat Al-Isra': 23-24. 5
