Introduction In the Name of Allah, Most Beneficent, Most Merciful Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, who has blessed us with the guidance of the Holy Qur'an and the example of our blessed Prophet and Messenger Muhammad. Islam contains all that we require to guide us to what will be best for us both in this life and the next. Not the least of the matters to which Allah, Most Merciful, has granted us guidance is the institution of marriage, both as to its purpose and the means where by we can fulfill our obligations and make it a blessing that will aid us in obtaining Paradise. The importance of Marriage is clearly shown by the hadith, such as: "Whoever has married has completed half of his religion; therefore let him fear Allah in the other half!" 1 In this time, the institution of marriage is under a great assault. For example, in the UK, more than half of the children are born outside marriage, the children of fornication and adultery. The institution of marriage is being replaced by serial "relationships" in which a women will have the children of several different men in turn before turning to yet another man to support her.
