Page:03 their own base desire, traditions and their forefathers' customs. They acted like this not as a result of proof and substantiation, but out of desire and bigotry. The Jews, may Allah's curses be upon them, believe in all the Messengers except Jesus and Muhammad. The Christians believe in all the Messengers except the Prophet Muhammad. The Samaritans do not believe in any of the Messengers who came after Joshua, the successor of Moses. The Magi (adherents of Mazdaism) were said to believe in a Prophet called Zaradicht, but then disbelieved in his law even though he was raised from among them, and Allah knows best. The verse indicates that whoever disbelieves in any of the Prophets, has indeed disbelieved in all Prophets as Allah says, (Verily, those who disbelieve in Allah and His Messengers). He has branded them as disbelievers in Him and His Messengers, andfurther says they wish to make distinction between Allah and His Messengers), that is, in belief and, (say, "We believe in some and disbelieve in others," and seek to adopt a way in between). Then Allah says, (such are disbelievers in truth), meaning that, without doubt, their disbelief is certain, because they distinguish between the Messengers. Had they been true believers, however, they would have believed in the Prophet Muhammad, who showed established proof, clear evidence and miracles? (And We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating torment), meaning that the disbelievers have shown disdain to the Prophet, either because they overlooked his Message or rejected it, though they knew for sure that he was a true Prophet. Likewise, the Jewish Rabbis envied the Prophet and rejected his Great Message. As a result, Allah inflicted punishment and humiliation upon them, both in this world and in 31
