Page :03 authority of Jabir Ibn Abdullah: "The Prophet said: 'I was given five things which had not been given to anyone before me: I was made victorious by Allah through awe (as a result of the fear Allah cast in the heart of the enemy) for a distance of one's month journey, the earth was made for me (and my followers) as a mosque and as a means for tayammum. Therefore, whenever the prayer time becomes due for a person from my Ummah, he should pray, and in another narration: He has a mosque and earth for tayammum." This hadith was also narrated by Al-Bukhari, on the authority of Qutaiba, and Muslim, on the authority of Yahya Ibn Yahya. (Truly, Allah is Ever Oft-Pardoning, Oft-Forgiving.) Part of Allah's pardon and forgiveness of our sins, He has made tayammum lawful for us and allowed us to pray with such act if there is no water. In this verse, there is evidence that prayer is beyond being observed in an incomplete state, urging the drunken to get over his state of drunkenness or until he knows what he utters, the person in a state of impurity until he washes, the person who has answered the call of nature until he performs ablution, unless he is ill or unless there is no water. Therefore, tayammum is a licence from Allah as a gesture of His Mercy and Relief. The Cause of the Lawfulness of Tayammum: Quoting A'isha, Al-Bukhari narrated: "We set out on a journey with the Prophet until we reached Al-Baydaa, when my necklace was broken and lost. The Prophet stayed there to look for it, and so did the people who were with him. There was no water at that place, so the people went to Abu Bakr and said, Sahih Al-Bukhari, the Book of Tayammum: 1/91-92, and Sahih Muslim, the Book of Mosques: 2/63. 779
