2TB STORY OF PROPHET MUSA MŪSĀ ATTAINS FULL MANHOOD & KILLS A COPTIC Mūsă grew into a strong and firm young man. None of the Pharaoh's people dared to act unjustly or mockingly to an Isra'ilite in his presence as they gained protection with him. He was in an outskirt of the city one day when he heard two men raising their voices in a fight. One of them was from the people of Pharaoh and the other was an Isra'ilite so he sought Musa's help over his fighting mate. Mūsa became very angry because the man had attacked the Isra'ilite even when he knew that Mūsa was ever protective towards them. Nobody knew why except that this was since his infancy; only his mother knew the reason as Allah had made known to her what was hidden from others. Mūsä punched the man from the party of Pharaoh angrily and caused his death. Nobody witnessed this except Allah and the Isra'ilite that he was defending. Seeing that he had taken a soul, Musă said: هَذَا مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَنِ إِنَّهُ عَدُوٌّ مُّضِلٌ مُّبِينٌ ) "This is of Shaytan's doing. Verily, he is a plain misleading enemy." (Surah al-Qasas, 28:15), then he said again: رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَغَفَرَ لَهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ ) "My Lord! Verily, I have wronged myself, so forgive me." Then He forgave him. Verily, He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful. (Surah al-Qasas 28:16) Mūsa witnessed the day after in the city looking about for news out of fear while some people reported to Pharaoh that the Children of Isra'il had killed one of their people (i.e., the Egyptians) and they were demanding justice. Pharaoh asked them to produce the killer and the witness they had against him so he could do that. RELATING STORIES OF THE PROPHETS While the people looked around searching for a witness, Mūsa saw the next day the very Isra'ilite who had sought his help over the dead man. He was fighting another man of the people of Pharaoh and he sought Musa's help again, but Müsă had regretted his previous action with the dead man so he moved to scold the Isra'ilite while still wanting to defend him against his adversary, so he said: "Verily, you are a plain misleader." إِنَّهُ عَدُوٌّ مُّضِلٌ مُّبِينٌ (Surah al-Qasas, 28:15) Looking at Musă as he scolded him angrily, the Isra'ilite feared that he was going to attack and kill him too so he said: أَتُرِيدُ أَن تَقْتُلَنِي كَمَا قَتَلْتَ نَفْسًا بِالْأَمْسِ "Is it your intention to kill me as you killed a man yesterday?" (Surah al-Qasas, 28:19) Hearing this, the man from the people of Pharaoh ran to his people with the story of what he had just heard from the Isrā'ilite that Musa was trying to defend, which was the evidence that they were looking for. So, Pharaoh ordered his executioners to apprehend and kill Musa. The men came by the city's main road, confident that Müsă would not escape their capture. A man from the party of the Pharaoh who had believed in Musă secretly used a shorter path to warn him that the Pharaoh's men were looking for him. MŪSĀ GOES OUT TO THE LAND OF MADYAN (MIDIAN) When Musa learnt that the Pharaoh and his officers were planning for his death, he left Egypt in a hurry without going to Pharaoh's palace or changing his clothes and neither was he prepared for traveling. He did not have an animal upon which to ride, and he was not in a caravan that would give him journey 184 185
