Preventative measures against Shaytan | Mustafa ibn Al-Adawi
In Islam, Shaytan (Satan) is considered a constant enemy to humanity, seeking to mislead, tempt, and lead believers away from the path of righteousness. Preventative Measures Against Shaytan focus on various strategies outlined in the Quran and Hadith to protect oneself from Shaytan’s harmful influence. These measures include seeking refuge in Allah through regular recitation of A’udhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajim (I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan), performing regular prayers (Salah), and making remembrance of Allah (Dhikr) throughout the day.
Additionally, guarding one’s actions and thoughts, avoiding environments or situations that may lead to sin, and being mindful of Shaytan’s whispering are essential to spiritual protection. Engaging in acts of charity, maintaining good character, and strengthening one’s connection to the Quran and Hadith are also key ways to protect oneself from Shaytan's deception and evil influence. Practicing these preventative measures helps to maintain purity of faith, resist temptations, and cultivate a closer relationship with Allah, ultimately shielding the believer from the traps of Shaytan.

Introduction يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنتُم مُسْلِمُونَ ) O you who believe, Fear Allāh as He should be feared and die not except as Muslims. [Surah Al-'Imran (3): 102 يَأَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَخَلَقَ مِنْهَا C زَوْجَهَا وَبَثَّ مِنْهُمَا رِجَالًا كَثِيرًا وَنِسَاء وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ الَّذِي تَسَاءَلُونَ بِهِ وَالْأَرْحَامَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَيْكُمْ رَقِيبًا ) O mankind, fear your Lord who created you from a single person and from that created his pair and from them created countless men and women. Fear Allah from whom you demand your mutual rights and do not cut the ties of the wombs. In- deed, Allah is an Ever-Watcher over you. [Surah An-Nisa' (4): 1] يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَقُولُوا قَوْلًا سَدِيدًا يُصْلِحْ لَكُمْ أَعْمَلَكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَمَن يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ 14115/1 فقد فاز فوزا عظيمًا ) O you who believe, Fear Allah and speak only good. He will rectify your deeds and forgive your sins. Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has already achieved the greatest success. [Surah al-Ahzab (33): 70-71

preventative measures against shaytan and authentic ruqyah according to the shariah It is the battle with Iblis 'Allah curse him - and his party that has been the principal battle since the time the enemy of Allah resolved to pursue Adam and his offspring in all situations and at all times, coming to him from all directions and following him every minute, as Allah The Lord of all Creation informed us: "(Iblis) said 'Allow me respite until the Day they are raised up.' Allah said 'You are of those given respite.' (Iblis) said 'Because You have sent me astray I will sit in wait against them (mankind) on Your Straight Path. Then I will come to them from in front of them and behind them, for their right and their left, and You will not find most of them thankful to You." " Ash-Shaytan has announced this struggle as a fierce, murderous was, springing from his evil nature, arrogance and rancour toward mankind. He has sought the permission of Allah to fight, and Allah has granted His permission for a wisdom He knows. Thus ash-Shaytan has come forth executing his warning and deriding his slaves. However, Allah has not left mankind devoid of any equipment, for He has given them Iman (faith/belief) that which is a shield, remembrance of him (dhikr) as preparation and the seeking of protection with Him (al-isti' adhah) as a weapon. Allah has exposed the steps and methods taken by Shaytan, so that if a person neglects his shield and weapon and falls short in recognising the plots and plans of his enemy, then his enemy will have power over him - and there is no ability or power except from Allah. If the servant of Allah gives permission to his enemy, opens the door to his house for him, admits him therein and allows him to brandish the weapon on to fight with then he alone is to blame, and he should not blame anyone but himself. Truly it is by the permission of Allah that a person once stated: 'Die in your grief, for you have no excuse'. I therefore sought the guidance of Allah in gathering the 'Islamic equipment' that will overcome Shaytan and his party. The result was this treatise in which I have explained the Divine warning against the Shaytans' deception. I ask Allah that it be a protection for the Believers against the plots of Shaytan and the deceptions of Iblis. I hope from any earnestly concerned brother that if he sees any mistakes or shortcomings in this book he will advise me, for indeed Allah has made sincere advice an act of worship for he whose intention is pure.
