Angels
سبحانه
Allah has created many angels. Only He knows
exactly how many angels there are.
32

Angels are made from light.
·
Unlike us, angels cannot disobey Allah.
They worship Allah
وتعالى
O day and night and they

never get tired.
They have only been created to serve Allah
We cannot see angels but they can see us.
They do not eat, sleep or drink.
وتعال Allah سبحانه
ه وتعالى
gives each angel its own role. They all
carry out many different duties.

Angels have extraordinary powers.
.
Angels are respected servants of Allah.

Angels have no gender. This means that there are
no 'male' or a 'female' angels.
Angels can change form and appearance. They
can even turn into a human being.
Angels were created before Adam.
• Angels have 2, 4, 6 or even 600 wings!
Some angels are more important than others.

Aunts and uncles
We should treat them the way we treat our mothers and fathers. They are the brothers and sisters of our parents. Just as we love our brothers and sisters, likewise our parents love their brothers and sisters and would want us to show respect to them. The
Prophet said that a person's aunt [mother's sister]
وسلم
is like his own mother.4
Teachers
We should show good manners to our teachers at all times and should not be rude to them. We should ask them sensible questions and do things that will please them. A great example of this is the behaviour of Ibn 'Abbaswho, as a young boy, went to learn how the Prophet worshipped during the night. As the Prophet went to answer the call of nature,
وسلم
وسلم
Ibn 'Abbas left a jug of water for him so that he
الله عنه
could make wuḍū' with it. The Prophet
was so الله عليه وسلم
pleased with this that he made a special du'a' for him
سبحانه
that Allah teaches him the Qur'an. This du'a' was
سبحانه
accepted by Allah and Ibn 'Abbas became one
الله عنه
of the greatest scholars among the Companions.
