The next week whirled by as quickly as the last
I was stuck with English, Maths, Science and History homework throughout the week, and barely noticed the alarm clock going off in the mornings. It was finally Friday.
Wa-hey! I did a tap dance in my head, excited that the week was at its' end. I met up with Saara and Maryam outside our exceptionally cool meeting place - the red post box at the bottom of Clough Lane.
"What do you want to do after you finish school Saara?" I asked.
"Hmmm I'm still thinking." smiled Saara, almost secretly.
"And what are your thoughts to date?" I asked arching my eyebrow at her. That was a line my dad always used on me.
"Well, I could go down the medical route and be a doctor... but I'm not sure if I want to do that forever. Although it is really nice to be able to help people. Then I could go to different countries and help all the people there too. There's so much disease and poverty in the world," she said, deep in thought.
"Yeah but imagine all the sick things you're going to have to see!" squealed Maryam. "But if it means helping others... we should be willing to risk everything for that isn't that what we're supposed to do as Muslims?" Saara was such a clever cat.
I nodded quietly, buried in my own thoughts. Saara was so good at helping others. She helped at the local Mosque and would donate in charity whenever she would hear that someone was raising money for something anything whether it was for the local library (that needed demolishing in my opinion because it was so old), the elderly, children around the world, or for diseases like cancer. Muslim or not Muslim. She was so mature at such a young age maasha Allah.
I really wished I could be like her sometimes, or even break into her mind for five minutes and see how it worked.
