Golden Stories of Ali bin Abi Talib
Publisher and Author's note
Honourable readers, I am infinitely grateful to Allah as I pen down these words. After a very long period of time my efforts are near completion. Allhamdulillah! All praises be to Allah, for He gave me the Tawfeeq to write a book on all four of the rightly guided Caliphs. Today, as I am writing the preface for, Golden Tales from the Life of Ali bin Abi Talib, my head is lowered with humility. Everything I have written, took place by the Grace and Benevolence of Allah.
The role of the rightly guided Caliphs in Islamic history is very significant. They were those sacred individuals whom the Messenger of Allah had himself given the glad tidings, that they would enter into paradise.
Undoubtedly, Ali was an immensely venerable and great personality. It was his good fortune that he was raised in the household of the Messenger of Allah. The Prophet personally asked his paternal uncle to let him keep Ali with him as a member of his household, even before he received the crown of Prophethood. The childhood of Ali was spent in the house of the Prophet. His upbringing was done at the hands of the Prophet and his wife, Khadijah. She was that great woman who has the honour of being the first woman to accept Islam, and who later also became his mother-in-law.
Golden Stories of Ali bin Abi Talib
Ali was a member of the Qurayshi and Hashimite clan, therefore in his genes ran attributes of nobility, justice, courage, decency, oratory, worship, repentance, virtuosity, and piety. He later on spent his whole life in the propagation of Islam. It is a great honour, and a means of attaining reward and good deeds, that I was blessed to be able to write about such a great person.
This book that is in your hands, is the life story of this great personality, who was the paternal cousin of Allah's Messenger. He was the offspring of certainly the most eminent and superior family and lineage. It was a family that was well-known to those far and wide, both the Arabs and the non-Arabs. The incidents and stories in this book are about this great personality who had the honour of being the first child to have accepted Islam. Only Allah knows how many times the Prophet must have hugged him and held him close as a child growing up in his care; how many times he must have had him sit and eat with him, and taught him the ways of life.
Ali bin Abi Talib was that great personality who was from amongst the Ahlul-Bait (personal household of the Prophet). He was the one with whom the Prophet married his beloved daughter Fatimah, and upon whose marriage, he said: 'Fatimah! I have conducted your nikah with the best person from amongst the family.'
This book is the autobiography of this great personality, whose mother was Fatimah bint Asad Hashimiyyah. She was the great woman who kept her compassionate hand upon the head of the Prophet and took care of him as her brother-in-law's orphaned child. Later on she not only accepted Islam, but also migrated to Madinah and travelled there on foot. She also held the honour of becoming the mother-in-law of the beloved daughter of the Prophet.
This is the Seerah of that great personality, Ali, who was given the responsibility of arranging the meal, when the Prophet decided to invite his family members to Islam upon Mount Safa.
gave Ali the job
On the night of Hijrah (migration), the Prophet of returning all the items that had been left as a trust with him back to their owners. Once he had returned all the items, to only then come to Madinah. This shows the high level of trust the Prophet had of Ali.

Golden Stories of Ali bin Abi Talib 286. The bride who killed her

groom on their wedding night
This incident took place during the era of Ali . A woman killed her groom on their wedding night in the presence of her lover. She was given (At-Turuq Al-Hakamiyyah, p:50) 287. The blood money (Diyyah) for the back
the punishment of death in Qisas (retribution).
It was the opinion of Ali that if someone's backbone was caused to break, and the affected person became deprived of the ability and strength to have sexual relations, then he has to be given the full blood money. (Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaibah, hadith: 27732)
288. The eye of the one-eyed
When a person hits someone who is one-eyed, in his second eye, and causes blindness, then he will have to pay the full blood money, or the one- eyed person can destroy one eye of the criminal as Qisas (retribution), and can take half of the Diyyah (blood money). In this regard, Ibn Qudamah has mentioned the opinion of Ali, that the single eye of the one-eyed person is like the two eyes of a man with two healthy eyes, in terms of ability to see, and this is why the ruling for full Diyyah (blood money) is
given.
(Al-Mugni: 8/5; Fiqh Al-Imam Ali: 2/860)
289. The blood money for fingers With regards to the fingers, the blood money for each finger from the ten fingers holds one-tenth of the full Diyyah (blood money). Ali has mentioned this in the form of ten camels. Asim bin Damrah narrates from Ali that in the fingers, each finger holds a blood money value of one-
tenth of the whole blood money.
(Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaibah, hadith: 27546)
According to one other narration, a single finger has a tenth of a tenth of
one Diyyah (blood money).
(Musannaf Abdur Razzaq, hadith: 17693)

Golden Stories of Ali bin Abi Talib-
someone during the
tawaaf (circumambulation of the Ka'bah) Umar bin Al-Khattab was circumambulating the Ka'bah. At this time, Ali was also doing the tawaf with him. Just then, a man came up to Umar and said: 'O Ameer-ul-Mumineen! Take my right from Ali and give it to me.' He asked the man: 'Why, what is the matter? He replied: He has slapped me on my eye.' Umar stopped, and in a minute Ali also arrived there. Umar asked him: 'O Abul Hassan! Have you hit this man on his eye?' He replied: 'Yes, O Ameer-ul-Mumineen!' He asked: 'Why?' Ali told him that this man was staring and ogling at the women of the believers during the tawaf.' Umar said: 'O Abul Hassan! You did (Ar-Riyadh An-Nadrah: 2/165) a very good thing.'

In the same way, Fihr would also remain dominant over all others due to his bravery and courage, this is why he came to be known by the name, 'Quraysh', and his offspring also became known by the same name.
The whole of Arabia was well aware of the noble lineage of Quraysh; their eligibility for leadership, the eloquence of their tongue, their immensely good manners, their chivalry, and their bravery. The Quraysh remained connected with most of the shariah (divine law) that were brought by Ibrahim. The Quraysh would not live a nomadic life like that of the bedouins of Arabia. Most of their lives were spent settled in Makkah.
Makkah was a well-known city. Its culture and civilization was accepted and acknowledged by the whole of Arabia. People would come to Makkah from all corners of Arabia to perform the holy pilgrimage, Hajj, and Umrah; and they would bring along with them merchandise to sell. Makkah was the cradle of peace, and by the prayer of Ibrahim , there was no shortage of food in the city. There was an abundance of fruits and vegetables in the city of Makkah.
Then there were customs and values unique to the clan of Quraysh. The Quraysh especially loved their children a lot. They would perform

Allah instilled fear and awe into the hearts of the enemies of His creed and religion. All this happened through a pious, pure-hearted, and g man like Ali 4, to whom Allah 3 had granted a passion for the love of death, for the sake of raising the name of His religion. The Chief of Aws tribe, Sa'ad bin Mu'az was then accepted as the judge (hakam), by the Jews. (As-Seerah An-Nabawiyyah, by Ibn Hisham: 3/263)
Sa'ad bin Mu'az gave the ruling that their warriors were to be killed, their women and children would be taken as prisoners, and their wealth would be distributed away. This decision was based upon the Jewish laws already there in Torah. (As-Seerah An-Nabawiyyah, by Ibn Katheer:6/56)

Their masters wrote to the Prophet is, asking him to return the slaves to them. The Prophet refused to send them back and said: 'O People of Quraysh! قصص ذهبية من حياة على إن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه (باللغة الإنجليزية)
There is intense love for all the Companions in my heart. I respect all of them immensely. It is a matter of great honour for me that I have already published books about the amazing lives of Abu Bakr As-Siddeeq, Umar Farooq, and Uthman bin Affan . Allhamdulillah, today, I complete the fourth book in this sequence. In this book, I have written about the golden tales from the life of Ali, after researching various different books and sources. Darussalam has previously published books on Ali, and I have used those books and other books too while writing this book.
I have tried to compile in one place, most of the incidents from the life of the tribal leader, Abu Talib, which are written in the books of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa'ah. Undoubtedly, Abu Talib supported the Messenger of Allah at every occasion, and stood by him. In the same way, I have also collected together the incidents about the siblings of Ali that have been mentioned in authentic and reliable sources.
