INTRODUCTION
Allah's are the names most beautiful. Whatever is in the heavens and the earth extols His glory, (al-Hashr 59:24)
Allah- there is no God but He. His are the most excellent names. (Ta Há 20:8)
Say to them (O Prophet!): "Call upon Him as Allah or call upon Him as Al-Rahman; call Him by which ever name you will, all His names are beautiful". (al-Isra 17:110)
Allah has the most excellent names. So call on Him by His names and shun those who distort them. (al-A'raf 7: 180)
Apart from the above Qur'anic assertions, the ex- cellence of Allah's name is also pressed home by the following Abidith:

THE MOST MERCIFUL
It is one of the recurrent names of Allah in the Qur'an. For mercy is a dominant attribute of Allah. We possess all that we have owing to His mercy. While keeping in mind this excellent name of Allah we should be kind and helpful to fellow human beings. Likewise, we should make it a point to follow the way prescribed by Him, Who is Most Merciful. It is in our own interest to do only that to which the Most Merciful One has guided us. The following Prophetic supplication brings out the centrality of this divine name:
اللهمْ فَارِجَ الْهَرْ كَاشِفَ الْقَرْ مُجِيْبَ دَعْوَةِ الْمُضْطَرِيْنَ رَحْمَنَ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ وَرَحيهُمَا أَنتَ تَرْحَمْنِي فَارْحَمْنِي بِرَحْمةِ تغنيني بِهَا عَنْ رَحْمَةٍ مَنْ سِوَاكَ
