Shadda
الشدة
A shadda is a symbol written above a letter to show that the letter has been doubled and therefore sounds stronger. Letters with shadda should always be stressed. When a letter has both a shadda and a kasra on it, the kasra is normally tucked underneath the shadda, rather than taking its usual place below the letter. Study the following examples:
