87. AL-A'LA (THE MOST HIGH)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Ever Merciful
Glorify the Name of your Lord Most High, (1) He who created and proportioned, (2) and who predestined and guided, (3) and who brought forth the pasture, (4) then made it dry stubble, darkened. (5)
We will make you recite, so you will not forget—(6) except what Allah wills, He knows what is declared openly and what is hidden. (7) And We will facilitate the way of ease for you. (8) Then remind, if indeed reminders do benefit. (9) He who fears will remember, (10) but the most wretched will avoid it, (11) he who will burn in the greatest Fire; (12) moreover, he will neither die there, nor live. (13)
Prosperous is he who purifies himself, (14) and remembers the Name of his Lord, then prays. (15) But you prefer the worldly life, (16) while the Hereafter is better and longer lasting (17) Surely this is in the former Scriptures; (18) the Scriptures of Abraham and Moses. (19)
88. AL-GHASHIYAH (THE OVERWHELMING EVENT)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Ever Merciful Has the story of the Overwhelming Event reached you? (1) Faces on that Day will be humbled, (2) labouring, weary (3) burning in a blazing Fire. (4) They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, (5) They will have no food except dry thorns, (6) which neither nourishes nor satisfies hunger. (7)
Other faces on that Day will be blissful, (8) well-pleased with their striving, (9) in a lofty Paradise, (10) where they will hear no idle talk. (11) There is a flowing spring. (12) there are couches raised, (13) and goblets set, (14) and cushions lined up. (15) and carpets spread around. (16)
Do they not then look at the camels-how they are created? (17) And at the sky-how it is raised? (18) And at the mountains-how they are set firm? (19) And at the earth-how it is spread out? (20)
So remind; you are only one who reminds. (21) You are not a controller over them. (22) But as for him who turns away and disbelieves, (23) then Allah will torment him with the greatest torment. (24) Surely to Us is their return; (25) then surely upon Us is their accounting (26)
