Description du livre

The Obligation of Opposing the People of the Hell-Fire – Ibn Taymiyyah | Aqeedah Book

The Obligation of Opposing the People of the Hell-Fire is a classical Islamic work by Ibn Taymiyyah that discusses the importance of maintaining a distinct Islamic identity and avoiding imitation of non-Islamic practices. This book focuses particularly on the issue of non-Muslim festivals, customs, and beliefs, emphasizing adherence to authentic Islamic Aqeedah. Despite being written over seven centuries ago, its principles remain highly relevant for Muslims today. The work provides clear guidelines to help believers stay firm upon the straight path (Sirat al-Mustaqim) and avoid innovations and deviations. Supported by explanations and notes from prominent scholars, this book is an essential read for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of Islamic creed and practice.

From Author:

"The celebrations and holidays of the disbelievers are countless and various, and it is not upon the Muslim to seek them out or to know them; it suffices [the Muslims] to know that any of their actions, days [of celebrations], or places [of observance], that the reason behind that action and glorification of that place or time originated from them. Even if one does not know whether or not it has originated from them, it suffices the Muslim knowing that it had no basis in the Religion of Islām, and the very least that could be said of it, its they it is from the innovated matters." - Iqtidā ' al-Sirat al-Mustaqim

Before the reader is Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah's classical work on opposing the disbelievers in their ways and practices in general, and in their holidays in specific. Although written over seven hundred years ago, it is still an essential discourse for the Muslim who desires to have the correct understanding as it relates to the non-Islamic holidays, resembling the non-Muslims, and adhering to the correct Islamic aqidah in general.

Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan said: “The intent behind this book is to lay down principles and guidelines which the believer can adhere to throughout his [or her] life, so that they can be upon the Sirat al-Mustaqim (i.e. the straight path), and be distant from the path of those who earned the anger of Allah and those who went astray.”

Iqtida al-Sirat al-Mustaqim
مِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيم
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy
Il praise is for Allah, Lord of all of the creation and Sustainer of the heavens and the earths. All praise is for Allah, who has completed for us our Religion, perfected His favor upon us, and is pleased for us Islam as a Religion. He commanded us to seek His guidance to His straight path; the path of those upon whom He bestowed His grace. Not those who have earned [His] anger-the Jews-, nor those who have went astray-the Christians.
I bear witness that Muḥammad is His slave and Messenger. He sent him with the upright Religion and with pure Islamic monotheism. He placed him upon a plain way of commandment and instructed him to say:
قُلْ هَذِهِ سَبِيلِي أَدْعُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ عَلَى بَصِيرَةٍ أَنَا وَمَنِ اتَّبَعَنِي )
"This is my way; I invite unto Allah with sure knowledge, I and whosoever follows me." [Yusuf 12:108]
May Allah send salutations upon him, raise his rank, and increase his nobility before Him.
To proceed:
I had previously forbade resembling the disbelievers in their holidays, and I clarified the narrations and the legislative texts reported in that. Then it reached me that some people found this to be strange and far-fetched, because of it opposing the customs that they were raised upon. Consequently, some companions requested from me that I comment upon this in order to shed light
