An Old Woman Sweeping the Mosque
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that, "A dark-complexioned woman used to sweep the mosque. So, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) missed her and enquired about her. People told him that she died. He asked, 'Why couldn't you inform me?', and it appears as if they had belittled her affairs. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, 'Lead me to her grave'. Then, they led him there; he prayed for her and then remarked, "Verily those graves are full of darkness for their dwellers. Verily, Allah the Almighty and Glorious illuminates them for their occupants due to my prayer for them.""
Also, Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that: "She was a dark-complexioned woman who used to sweep the mosque. She died in the night and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was told about her death in the morning. He said, 'Why didn't you inform me?' He went with his companions and he stood by her grave. He made the Takbir (the saying: Allahu Akbar [meaning: Allah is the greatest]) and people behind him did the same. Then he then prayed for her and left".10
