Introduction to the principles of tafseer
Fabricated narrations in the books of tafseer
Most of the Mawdoo (fabricated) Hadiths appear in relation to the virtues of the Surah of the Quran. A fabricator did this by the name of 'Abu Ismah Nooh Ibn Abi Maryam'.
One may say, 'Well, it is mentioned in the books of tafseer, so can it not be accepted and acted upon?' The answer is no, even if it is mentioned in the books of tafseer, it does not mean that we can act upon it because it constitutes lies against the Prophet,
Then Ibn Taymiyyah
goes onto list some of the
unreliable books of tafseer and gives his view
regarding their authenticity:
Tafseer of Tha'labi
هو في نفسه كان فيه خير ودين وكان حاطب ليل
ينقل ما وجد في كتب التفسير من صحيح وضعيف
