Content:
What Happens When Death Approaches?
The book begins by examining people's attitudes toward death and the final moments of life. It discusses the believer's hope in Allah, the righteous person's longing to meet Allah, and the different experiences faced by sinners and disbelievers.
Readers will explore important subjects such as:
The approach and agonies of death.
The Angel of Death and the departure of the soul.
The role of the accompanying angels.
The final moments of the believer and nonbeliever.
The believer's glad tidings of Allah's mercy and acceptance.
The punishment and distress awaiting those who reject the truth.
The Soul's Journey to the Heavens
One of the fascinating sections of the book explores the journey of the soul after death. Drawing upon authentic narrations, the author discusses the soul's journey through the heavens, its meeting with other souls, and its abode during Al-Barzakh.
The Life of Al-Barzakh
The book provides an extensive examination of the intermediate life between death and resurrection. It discusses the experiences of both believers and nonbelievers and presents evidence concerning the soul's condition, the grave, and the events that take place before the Final Resurrection.
Preparing for the Final Trial
The work also discusses the Final Trial, including its timing, difficulty, and the believer's response. It emphasizes the importance of remaining firm in faith and preparing for the Hereafter before the opportunity of worldly life comes to an end.
Based on Authentic Islamic Sources
A major feature of the book is its reliance on Qur'anic evidence and authentic Hadith. Narrations from companions such as Abu Hurayrah, Al-Bara' ibn 'Azib, Abu Ayyub, and 'Aishah رضي الله عنهم help explain the events surrounding death and the journey of the soul.

The Approach of Death
When she heard this from the Prophet (), 'A'ishah () exclaimed, “O Prophet of Allah, do you mean hating death? We all hate death!" The Prophet () responded:
<This is not what it means! When death comes to a believer, he is given the tidings of receiving mercy, acceptance, and merit from Allah. Nothing is then dearer to him than what lies ahead of him; so he loves meeting Allah, and Allah loves meeting him. But when death comes to a nonbeliever, he is given the tidings of Allah's anger, torture and punishment. Nothing is then more hateful to him than what lies ahead of him; so he hates meeting Allah, and Allah hates meeting him.>
Similarly, Shurayḥ Bin Hani' () was puzzled when he heard the above ḥadīth from Abu Hurayrah (4), so he went to 'A'ishah () and said, "O Mother of the Believers, Abu Hurayrah relates a ḥadīth from Allah's Messenger () that, if true, means that we are all lost!" She said, "A loser is only he who has been declared so by Allah's Messenger (). What is he relating?" Shurayḥ related to her the ḥadīth, adding, "And none among us but hates death." She explained:
Recorded by al-Bukhari (6507) and Muslim (2684).
