Description du livre

General Objectives
Attainment of the pleasure of Allah by seeking the sacred knowledge which will help us worship Him according to His will.
The study of Fiqh belongs to the category of humani- ties, which is correct from one angle. since it is a discipline of knowledge that seeks to improve the condition of human beings. This is a major objective.
However, it differs from humanities from another angle, for the source of this knowledge is the sacred Revelation.
Providing the
students with knowledge to enable them to understand the acts of worship and their correct etiquettes.
The study is evidence-based and focuses on proof from the Qur'an and Sunnah. This should instill in the student a high regard for the Revelation, which is the soul of this religion.
Clarifying the wisdom behind the legislation of the various acts of wor- ship and their effects on the spiritual and emotional wellbeing of the individual, as well as his/her relationship with the creation of Allah.
The Hanbali School of law (madh-hab) will be the focal point of the study, with frequent and impartial reference to other schools of Islamic law.
This will enable the student to get grounded in one madh-hab first, while getting to learn about others, so that s/he may not have exces- sive zeal for one madh-hab or any contempt for any of the accepted schools of jurispru-
dence of Ahl-us-Sunnah.

Fiqh of Worship is a translation of and commentary on Ibn Qudamah's highly esteemed 'Umdat al-Fiqh, an abridged book of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) according to the Hanbali school. Dr. Hatem al-Haj has translated and elaborated on it, noting the opinions of other schools of Islamic jurisprudence, thus giving the English-speaking student a broader base for his or her understanding of fiqh.
The author has made the difficult subject of figh easier to learn and more comprehensible by using visual aids and a unique symbol system. This book is a must-have for the serious student of knowledge. In the author's words:
WORSHIP
This knowledge will only be beneficial if it is sought for Allah's sake, coupled with compassionate devotion towards Him and diligent adherence to the way of our most beloved, Prophet Muhammad (8). It will be retained only by frequent reviews, and confirmed by teaching it to those who are less knowledgeable. Worship, when devoutly observed and correctly performed, is the ultimate human function for which people were created, and the only way to attain the ultimate success, being the pleasure of our Lord (Exalted is He).
Dr. Hatem al-Haj is Dean of the Sharia Academy of America and a member of the Fatwa Committee of the Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America (AMJA). He holds a PhD in Comparative Fiqh and a Masters in Islamic Law. He is the author of many published articles on Islamic topics. Dr. al-Haj's website, www.drhatemalhaj.com, is a useful resource for information on Islam and topics of interest to new Muslims, young Muslims, and Muslims living in non-Muslim societies.
