He is God: there is no deity other than Him. It is He who knows all that is beyond the reach of anyone's perception,
as well as all that
which can be witnessed. He is the Lord of Grace, the Ever-Merciful.
He is God: there is no deity other than Him, the Sovereign, the Holy, the Source
of Peace, the Giver of Faith, the Guardian over all, the Almighty, the Compeller, to whom all greatness belongs. Exalted is God in His limitless glory above anything they associate as partner with Him.
What has faith meant to me before and after converting to Islam?
Faith is enlightenment, the ignitor of love, compassion and forgiveness that run through my veins, the light that makes me see the world differently and the answer to the question of my purpose in life. My faith also represents comfort for my heart, the healer of my grief and my "chicken soup for the soul'. My journey started with questions from which my faith was born, but the path to finding the right practice for my spirituality was a long, winding road that finally led me to Islam. At every bend in the road stood a question, and another, until I reached clarity about who I was truly meant to be: a Muslim.
What does faith mean to you?
1.WHO IS GOD?
He is God: the Creator, the Maker who gives shape and form to all. His are the most gracious names. Everything in the heavens and earth extols His limitless glory. He alone is the Almighty, the Wisc.
In Islam, God is referred to as Allah. Why? The Arabic word 'Allah' literally translates to 'The God' - 'the' emphasising that there is no other. While most Arabic nouns are either masculine or feminine, the noun 'Allah' has no gender and is always singular, never plural. Interestingly, 'Allah' isn't used exclusively by Muslims. In fact, Arab Christians and Jews also use 'Allah' in their scriptures, highlighting the
99 similarity between the three monotheistic faiths.
The Exile. Surah Al-Hashr
(59:22-24)
Sometimes thinking about Allah can be daunting - He is - so vast and beyond comprehension. Familiarising yourself with His names and thinking about their meanings is an effective way to get to know God and become closer to
Him.

Big Little Steps is the culmination of one women's pilgrimage towards religion. From an atheist family upbringing through an exploration of Christianity to finally embracing Islam, Mathilde Loujayne converted in 2002 and has since crossed paths with women from all walks of life on a spiritual journey to discover Islam from a feminine perspective.
This is the guide she wished she had when she took her first steps as a New Muslim. She began writing it in an attempt to explain her life choice to her mother and has finished writing it as a personal discourse on contemporary Issues for New Muslim Women as she invites them to participate in a global sisterhood. This book is intended to empower women with Islamic values. To welcome them into a universal family beyond borders. To call them towards a simpler life, where their physical and spiritual needs are harmonised and to address common concerns as they take the Big Little Steps towards finding a balanced lifestyle and a glowing heart in Islam.
"A 'self-help' book for Muslims, which seeks both to inspire Muslim women, but also to educate those outside the faith."
- Dr Myriam Francois
"This is a book full of heart."
- Ingrid Mattson
"I Wished I'd had a book like this when I embraced Islam in 1995." - Kristiane Backer
