Elevating Sahih Al-Bukhari  By Adbdul Qadir Muhammad Jalal

Elevating Sahih Al-Bukhari" by Abdul Qadir Muhammad Jalal is a profound and scholarly work that delves into the significance of Sahih al-Bukhari, one of the most revered and authentic collections of Hadith (sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad, PBUH) in Islamic tradition. This book aims to provide readers with a deeper understanding of the importance of Sahih al-Bukhari and the profound impact it has on Islamic scholarship, practice, and the way Muslims engage with the teachings of the Prophet.
The book emphasizes the importance of Sahih al-Bukhari as a foundational text in Islamic studies, offering an explanation of its compilation, methodology, and the rigorous criteria Imam Bukhari used to select the Hadiths included in his collection. Sahih al-Bukhari is considered the most authentic book of Hadith after the Qur'an, and its compilation is a monumental achievement in preserving the words and actions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Abdul Qadir Muhammad Jalal explores the structure of Sahih al-Bukhari, explaining the meticulous process through which Imam Bukhari collected and verified over 600,000 narrations, ultimately selecting around 7,275 Hadiths that met the highest standards of authenticity. The author discusses the scholarly integrity of Imam Bukhari, who traveled extensively in search of authentic narrations, ensuring that only those Hadiths with a reliable chain of transmission (Isnad) were included in the collection.
The book also touches on the key themes within Sahih al-Bukhari, including the Prophet’s guidance on faith, worship, ethics, family life, and social interactions. Dr. Jalal highlights the wisdom and practical applications of these teachings in the daily lives of Muslims, showcasing how the Hadiths serve as a comprehensive guide for moral conduct, spiritual growth, and community welfare.
Through Elevating Sahih Al-Bukhari, the author aims to inspire Muslims to not only appreciate the academic and historical importance of Sahih al-Bukhari but also to reflect on its teachings and apply them to their lives. The book serves as both a tribute to Imam Bukhari’s scholarship and a guide for those seeking to gain a deeper understanding of the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The First Misconception
Imam Al Bukhari passed away before his Sahih was compiled
This misconception entails two topics:
Firstly, did Imam Al Bukhari leave behind a draft of his book, incomplete?
For some have understood from the speech of Al Mustamli and Al Baji (as will follow) that Imam Al Bukhari did not complete his book, and the book was only completed by some of its narrators.
See Adwa' 'ala As Sahihain by Muhammad Sadiq An Najmi (Pg. 126). This was also the view adopted by Al Kawthari in his commentary on Shurut A'imat Al Khamsah by Al Hazimi (Pg. 70), and Mahmud Abu Rayyah in Adwa' 'ala As Sunnah Al Muhamadiyyah, as was transmitted by Al Mu'allimi in Al Anwar Al Kashifah, contained in Athar Ash Shaykh Al 'Allamah Abdur Rahman bin Yahya Al Mu'allimi (12/353,354).

The Fifth Misconception
His reports from narrators affected by ikhtilat (confabulation)
hose that castigate against the aḥadīth is Sahih Al
Tho
Bukhari claim that the existence of ahadith from the narrations of those labeled with ikhtilat (confabulation) while considering all the reports of these type of narrators to be weak.
The refutation of this misconception is based on the following matters:
Firstly: the scholars classify the reports of the narrator labe- led with ikhtilat (confabulation) into three categories, consid- ering the one reporting it from him:

ELEVATING
ŞAHIH AL-BUKHĀRĪ
For centuries, there have been numerous attacks on the hadith, its narrators, scholars, and compilations, especially on Imam al-Bukhari and his Sahih. These attacks (in the past and present) are of various forms, and today have become widespread due to the advent of social media. Thus, we consider it obligatory and timely to produce a book that dispels these misconceptions and preserves the status of the hadith; particularly its most authentic collection - Sahih al-Bukhārī.
This book addressed 21 major misconceptions arranged in five chapters, and presented academic responses to those misconceptions in a manner that is comprehensible to the layman and sufficient for the one seeking the truth. This work is a noble attempt to fill a gap in defending the pure Sunnah, and is considered part of a debt paid towards Imam al-Bukhārī and his great book (Sahih al-Bukhārī).
