Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (رضي الله عنه) was the first Caliph of Islam and one of the closest companions of the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم). Born in Mecca around 573 CE, he belonged to the noble Quraysh tribe and was a trusted friend of the Prophet even before the advent of Islam. Known for his honesty, humility, and unwavering faith, Abu Bakr was the first adult male to embrace Islam.
As a devoted follower and supporter, he played a vital role during the early years of Islam, including the migration (Hijra) to Medina. After the Prophet’s passing, Abu Bakr was unanimously chosen as the first Caliph, leading the Muslim Ummah with wisdom and justice. His leadership was marked by the unification of Arabia and the compilation of the Quran into a single manuscript.
His title, "As-Siddiq" (The Truthful), reflects his steadfast belief and loyalty to the Prophet. Abu Bakr As-Siddiq’s legacy as a leader and pious Muslim continues to inspire believers worldwide. He passed away in 634 CE and was buried beside the Prophet Muhammad in Masjid al-Nabawi, Medina.
