Imam An-Nawawi (1233–1277 CE) was a prominent Islamic scholar, jurist, and hadith compiler from Syria, known for his contributions to Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and hadith literature. He is most famous for his compilation of the Forty Hadith (Arba'in al-Nawawi), which includes key sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that cover essential aspects of Islamic belief and practice. An-Nawawi also authored other influential works, such as the Riyad al-Salihin (The Gardens of the Righteous), a collection of hadiths on ethics and morality.
