The Rights of Elders in Islam by Shaykh Abdur Razzaaq bin Abdul Muhsin Al-Badr is a beneficial Islamic book that explains the importance of honoring, respecting, and fulfilling the rights of elders according to the teachings of the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah. The author highlights Islamic manners, good character, compassion, humility, and social responsibilities toward parents, senior family members, scholars, and elderly Muslims. Written in a simple and easy-to-understand style, this book serves as a valuable reminder about maintaining strong community ties and practicing noble Islamic etiquette in everyday life. Published by Maktabatul-Irshad, this concise work is ideal for students of knowledge, families, and anyone seeking authentic guidance on Islamic manners and interpersonal rights.

From Author:

Therefore, one who does not know the rights of Allah, the Messenger (sallallahu alehi wassallam), the parents, the neighbors, the elderly in Islam and so forth, then how could he possibly establish their rights? How can he possibly be just?

Due to this reason, it is among the most significant of matters and most emphasized obligations to be concerned with learning the rights (of others).

And that the Muslim be concerned about it (i.e. the rights), and learning about it with the intent of performing actions according to it and establish it in a perfect and complete manner.

It is a must likewise to perform it as an act of worship for Allah alone, and seeking nearness to Him. Not that this learning is to merely gain information, to increase in knowledge and have abundance of knowledge and so forth.

So this is not the objective behind knowledge; rather, the only objective of knowledge is to act upon it.

REMINDER ABOUT RIGHTS
Reminding the Muslims about these rights is a portal to good and a path towards righteousness and prosperity. So when the Muslim is reminded he takes heed and when he is directed to good then he is led on the right way. Allâh says,
وَذَكِّرْ فَإِنَّ الذِكْرَى تَنفَعُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ )
"And remind (by preaching the Qur'ân, O Muhammad) for verily, the reminding profits the believers." [Adh-Dhariyat 51:55]
So the Muslim can recognize the beauty of this blessed legislation is the legislation of Islâm. And that this religion is the religion of justice, the religion of giving everyone their due rights respectively, as Allah says,

THE RIGHTSOFELDERS
IN ISLAM
Rather, verily This from the greatest of actions that draw one closer to Allah and most sublime means of attaining Allah's pleasure, relief from worries and facilitation of one's affairs Just like what is witnessed to that in the story of the three individuals who took refuge in a cave in a mountain. So they entered it and a boulder fell from the mountain and blocked them in the cave. Each one of them implored Allah using his most righteous actions. The waseelah of one of them was his establishment of this tremendous right and his attention to this noble request where He said:
"O Allah, I had two elderly parents, and I use to not give precedence to anyone over them two in drinking their share of milk, which they would drink. So, one day seeking a matter kept me distance (ie., from the house), and I didn't' return to them until they had fell asleep. So, I milked (i.e., the goats, cows) their afternoon milk and I found them two sleeping (i.e. his parents). And I disliked giving precedence to anyone over them two in drinking their share of milk. Thus, I remained while the drinking bowl was in my hands waiting for them to wake up at the appearance of Fajr. So they woke up and they drank their afternoon milk. O Allah! If I had done that seeking your face, then (please) relieve us of what we are in pertaining to this rock."
