Finding Strength in Devotion
After the death of her son, Sayyidah Märiyyah continued to Stay on the outskirts of Medina, maintaining a private life and dedi cating herself to worship and devotion. She did not leave the house other than for visiting the grave of Sayyiduna Ibrahim. Shortly after the death of Sayyiduna Ibrahim, the Prophet also passed away. We can imagine the extent of her grief. In a matter of just a few days, she lost two of the most important people in her life: her son and her husband. Despite this tragedy, she found solace in the remembrance of Allah and spent the rest of her days in privacy.
Sayyidah Märiyyah's journey in Islam, marked by her marriage to the Prophet, left a significant impact on the relationships between the Arabs and the people of different regions, and created a strong bond between them. The Prophet venerated her by honouring her people, and even after his passing, his instruc- tions regarding the kind treatment of the Egyptians continued to be honoured. When Sayyiduna 'Amr ibn al-'As became the governor of Egypt, he used to remember this and continued to regard his instructions.
Sayyidah Mariyyah passed away in the 16th year after the Hijrah during the rule of Sayyiduna 'Umar, who performed the funeral prayer over her body. She was buried in al-Baqi' next to her son, Ibrāhīm.
The Story of Sayyidah Märiyyah al-Qibtiyyah reminds us of the diversity within the ummah and the unifying power of Islam. Her journey from Egypt to Medina, her acceptance of Islam, and her role as a bridge between cultures are profound lessons in unity

and understanding. Her trials and the emotional impact of losing her son resonate as reminders of the human nature of the Prophet and the profound wisdom embedded within life's challenges.

CHAPTER ONE
Khadijah bint Khuwaylid
Come people are remembered long after they are gone; their
have left this world because their contributions and achievements impact the world in such a way that history simply does not forget them. But what makes a person so memorable? What actions must we do or qualities must we possess so that thousands of years from now, people will admire and look up to us as a guiding light? There are many examples from our rich Islamic history that provide a glimpse into the lives of women who are remembered to this day. They were women who had inherent qualities and noble charac- ters capable of building a nation with their faith, perseverance, and determination. Women who left a mark on the world and became an inspiration for all of mankind.
When analysing these inspirational women, a name that instantly comes to mind is that of Khadijah bint Khuwaylid. She was, after all, the first wife of the Prophet and the first to accept Islam.
A Noble Beginning
Sayyidah Khadijah was born over 1,500 years ago in the blessed city of Mecca and belonged to the clan of Banu Hashim

CHAPTER ELEVEN
Fatimah bint
'Abd al-Malik
People with influence and power generally develop a sense of pride and arrogance, but Islam teaches us to turn these privileges into opportunities for goodness. Some women in Muslim history had such power and Status as they belonged to noble families, but they developed a personality of humility and God-consciousness and led lives of simplicity. Fatimah bint 'Abd al-Malik was one such woman. Born into an abundance of riches, she gave it all up for a simple life of piety and modesty.
Born into Nobility and Luxury
Fatimah bint 'Abd al-Malika was born in a prestigious house- hold. She belonged to the Banu Umayyah and was a princess by lineage, as she was the daughter of the Caliph 'Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan ibn al-Hakam, the leader of the Muslims at the time of Umayyad rule in Damascus. The Banu Umayyah governed immediately after Sayyiduna 'Ali was killed and took over to assume rule over the Muslim world. Fatimah was raised in a home of nobility and leadership, and due to this early exposure to an

environment of luxury and power, she was familiar with royal culture and conducted herself with dignity and grace.
Her father devoted a lot of love and care into raising his beloved daughter, paying special attention to her education and intellectual development. This early investment in her education later proved pivotal in shaping the course of her life. She learnt from eminent scholars of her time and her education spanned a broad spectrum of subjects, including poetry, Quranic Studies, Islamic legislation, and history. Despite being the favourite of her father and living a life of privileges, she neither developed a sense of entitlement nor became arrogant; instead, she grew up to be a woman of beautiful character and morality.
After her paternal uncle and the governor of Egypt, 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Marwan, passed away, her father brought his son, 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz, to Damascus, where he was raised. He was the great-grandson of Sayyiduna 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, as his mother was Sayyiduna 'Umar's granddaughter. When she became of marriageable age, Fatimah's father married her to her cousin, 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz, and sent him to Medina as a governor. Fatimah continued to live a life of luxury in Medina until an unfortunate event happened. 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz was stripped of his position as the governor due to his refusal to welcome al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf in Medina, who was the governor of Baghdad and an extremely unjust ruler.

she only wanted his companionship - a sign of her integrity and purity. The Prophet thus supplicated for her family to be his
companions in Paradise.
Sayyidah Nusaybah
was also one of the women who became
a reason for the revelation of a verse of the Qur'an. She came to the Prophet one day and asked him, "The men are taking away all the rewards, and most of the rewards that are mentioned in the Qur'an are about men. What about us women?" The same question was also a concern for Sayyidah Umm Salamah. The following verse in Surah al-Ahzab was revealed as an answer to their query:

lifetime, showing how integral women were to the foundation of Islam. She fought for the truth, becoming a shield for the Prophet , and left a legacy of courage and selflessness for us all.

(al-Ahzab 33:35)
A Life of Sacrifice and Bravery
Sayyidah Nusaybah also participated in the Conquest of Mecca and the Battle of Yamamah after the Prophet passed away. She was a warrior and an inspiration. Her numerous sacri- fices cannot be limited to just one event but spanned over her
