SOORATUL-BAQARAH
His, the Exalted One's statement:
فَوَيْلٌ لِلَّذِينَ يَكْتُبُونَ الْكِتَبَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ ثُمَّ يَقُولُونَ هَذَا مِنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ لِيَشْتَرُوا بِهِ ثَمَنًا
قَلِيلًا فَوَيْلٌ لَّهُم مِّمَّا كَتَبَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَوَيْلٌ لَّهُم مِّمَّا يَكْسِبُونَ )
"Then woe to those who write the book with their own hands and then say, 'This is from Allaah,' to purchase with it a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn thereby." (verse: 79)
قال الإمام البخاري والله في كتابه خلق أفعال العباد (ص:54) : حدثنا يحيى ثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن عبد الرحمن بن علقمة عن ابن عباس : ( فَوَيْلٌ لِلَّذِينَ يَكْتُبُونَ الْكِتَبَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ) قال: نزلت
Ibn 'Abbaas said about the verse:
فَوَيْلٌ لِلَّذِينَ يَكْتُبُونَ الْكِتَبَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ
أهل الكتاب.
"Then woe to those who write the book with their own hands...," "This verse descended because of the people of the book (the Jews and Christians)."
This hadeeth has been transmitted by Al-Bukhaaree in his book Khalq Afaal Al-'Ibaad, page 54. Ash-Sheikh Muqbil said, “The hadeeth in question, the people of its chain are people of the Saheeh (Al-Bukhaaree and/or Muslim) except for 'Abdur-Rahmaan ibn 'Alqamah, however, he has been declared trustworthy by An-Nasaa'ee, Ibn Hibbaan and Al-'Ijlee; and Ibn Shaaheen has mentioned that that Ibn Mahdee said, "He was one of the sound trustworthy narrators." Refer to the book Tahdheeb At-Tahdheeb."
