Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal (780–855 CE) was a towering figure in early Islamic scholarship, best known as the founder of the Hanbali school of thought and for his monumental Musnad of hadith — one of the most comprehensive collections of Prophetic narrations spanning tens of thousands of reports. His dedication to hadith preservation laid foundations for later Muslim scholarship.
