The Islamic Awakening – Revival of Faith and Guidance for Today’s Muslims:

The Islamic Awakening addresses the challenges and responsibilities faced by Muslims in modern times. It explains the true meaning of revival in Islam, guiding believers to return to the Qur’an and Sunnah while avoiding extremism and innovations. This book highlights the importance of knowledge, wisdom, and sincerity in building a strong Islamic identity and contributing positively to society.

From Author:

This book is written by Shaykh Muhammad Nasiruddin al-Albani, one of the most respected scholars of the 20th century. Renowned for his expertise in Hadith, his works emphasize returning to the Qur’an and Sunnah in matters of faith and practice. His writings have inspired Muslims worldwide to embrace authentic Islamic teachings with clarity and balance.

A Blessed Awakening

The book begins by recognizing the growing return of Muslims to their Deen, describing an awakening fueled by the efforts of Muslims around the world. At the same time, it draws attention to the challenges that can hinder this positive movement.

Guidance Beyond Enthusiasm

The author emphasizes that sincere enthusiasm alone is not enough. Without proper Islamic guidelines and sound direction, emotions can potentially lead to outcomes that cause more harm than benefit. The book therefore presents important guidelines intended to help Muslims approach the awakening with knowledge, wisdom, balance, and adherence to Islamic principles.

Rulings Related to the Qur’an

A substantial section of the book addresses practical questions concerning the Qur’an, including:

  • Rulings regarding those who abandon the Qur’an
  • Whether reading the Qur’an is compulsory
  • Listening to the news instead of Qur’an recitation
  • The importance of continuing to recite the Qur’an
  • Encouragement to recite the Qur’an frequently
  • Seeking refuge in Allah before recitation
  • Memorizing the Qur’an and concerns about forgetting it
  • Maintaining and revising memorized portions
  • Advice for parents to encourage children to memorize the Qur’an
  • Maintaining a consistent relationship with the Qur’an
  • Keeping a good intention while reading
  • Whether Tafsir is necessary for memorization
  • Practical guidance on easier methods of memorization
  • Various issues concerning Qur’an recitation
    Balancing Qur’an with Daily Activities

The book also addresses everyday situations, such as choosing between listening to Qur’an recitation and listening to the news. It explains that giving time to other beneficial activities does not necessarily mean abandoning the Qur’an, provided that a person continues to allocate regular time for reciting and listening to it.

Knowledge, Wisdom & Consistency

Throughout these discussions, the work encourages Muslims to develop a consistent and balanced relationship with the Qur’an, while approaching Islamic practice with understanding rather than being driven solely by emotion.

An Important Guide for Today

This book is especially beneficial for Muslims seeking to understand the responsibilities and challenges associated with an Islamic awakening. It combines practical Qur’an-related guidance with broader principles for maintaining a sound and beneficial approach to Islamic revival.

And guidance lies with Allah (). O Allah, send prayers and salutations on Muḥammad, his family, and his companions."
Listening to the News Instead of the Qur'an
2-Q: When driving my car or sitting at home, I often listen to the recitation of the Qur'an. Yet at times, one feels the need to listen to something else, such as the news; or to do something else, such as read the newspaper. I find that I have trouble organizing my spare time to do both: to listen to the Qur'an and to perform other activities. My question is this: If I have a choice between listening to the Qur'an and hearing the news on the radio and if I then choose the latter option, have I in effect deserted the Qur'an and turned my back to it?
A: All praise is for Allah alone, and may His prayers and salutations be on Muḥammad, his family, and his companions.
There is nothing wrong in listening to the news or in reading a newspaper rather than listening to the Qur'an radio station because for each there is a time. So by listening to the news, you are not turning your back on the Qur'an so long as you allot time in your schedule for reciting and listening to the Qur'an.
And guidance lies with Allah (). O Allah, send prayers and salutations on Muḥammad, his family, and his companions."

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES
SHAYKH MUHAMMAD IBN ŞALIH AL-UTHAYMIN The Muslim Nation today is experiencing a blessed awakening in all aspects of its affairs, one that has been aroused by the efforts of Muslims throughout the globe. This is despite the onslaught of the disbelievers against Islam whether that be military or through their powerful media apparatus. In these often difficult times, we find many Muslims returning to their Din and embracing it with vigour and enthusiasm. However the astute observer will find that there are many problems that hinder its progress, problems that have caused some of the scholars to lay down some guidelines that the youth of this blessed awakening should adhere to and follow. It should also be noted that if the Islamic guidelines are not strictly adhered to, and the youth are left to be driven by their emotions alone, then surely this awakening will result in destroying more than it will build!
